English language contains 12 tenses:

4 Groups:

 a) continuous/ progressive tenses 

b) perfect tenses 

c) simple tenses 

d) perfect progressive tenses

Continuous/Progressive Tenses:

1. Present continuous 
2. Past continuous 
3. Future continuous 

Present continuous/progressive Tense

نستخدم زمن المضارع المستمر للتعبير عن فعل يحدث الآن في الوقت الحالي

He’s eating now. 

What’s he doing now? 

He’s eating. 

They’re watching TV at the moment / at the present time. 

What are they doing now? 

Subject + (verb .ing) + object / complement 

Past continuous/progressive Tense 

نستخدم زمن الماضي المستمر للتعبير عن فعل كان يحدث خلال فترة زمنية معينة في الماضي

At 9:00 PM yesterday he was drawing a tree. 

What was he drawing yesterday at 9:00 PM? 

They were playing football from 6:00 to 7:00 last week. 

What were they doing from 6:00 to 7:00 last week?

Was / were + (verb .ing)

The Future Continuous / Progressive Tense

نستخدم زمن المستقبل المستمر للتعبير عن فعل سيحدث خلال فترة زمنية معينة في المستقبل

She will be reading a story at 9:00 tomorrow. 

What will she be doing at 9:00 tomorrow? 

The student will be studying English at 10:00 tomorrow.

Will be + (verb .ing) 

 am / is / are +going to be (verb .ing)
